This route takes you along the modern waterfront in Nordhavn – an area once defined by industry, now transformed into one of Copenhagen’s most exciting new neighborhoods. As you run along the quay, you'll enjoy views of old silos, modern architecture, and life on the water, all while breathing in the fresh sea air. It’s the perfect route for those looking to combine exercise with maritime surroundings and a glimpse of the city’s development.
This route takes you around the historic Kastellet – one of Europe’s best-preserved fortresses from the 17th century. With its five bastions, moat, and star-shaped layout, Kastellet offers a unique and atmospheric running experience. The surface on the ramparts is firm gravel. As Kastellet is still an active military base, it closes at night. Opening hours are 06:00–20:00 in the winter season and 06:00–22:00 in the summer season.
This route takes you through Fælledparken – Copenhagen’s largest park and one of the city’s most popular running spots. Here, you’ll run along wide paths surrounded by green lawns, lakes, sports facilities, and old trees. The atmosphere is relaxed and local, and you’ll encounter fitness enthusiasts, families, and ball players along the way. Fælledparken is ideal for both short and longer runs, offering plenty of space and fresh air in the heart of the city.
This route takes you through two of Copenhagen’s most beautiful parks: Østre Anlæg and the King’s Garden. You begin on the soft, rolling paths of Østre Anlæg, surrounded by large trees, lakes, and peaceful surroundings – right next to the National Gallery of Denmark. From there, you continue to the King’s Garden, which surrounds the historic Rosenborg Castle. The garden features symmetrical avenues, colorful flowerbeds, and a classic Copenhagen city atmosphere where both tourists and locals enjoy the sun. A scenic route filled with greenery and cultural history.
A classic for Copenhagen runners: The route around the Lakes – Peblinge Lake, Sortedams Lake, and Sankt Jørgens Lake – offers flat terrain, wide paths, and plenty of life. Here, you run with water on one side and the city on the other, surrounded by beautiful views, swans, and reflections in the lake’s surface. The full route around the lakes is approximately 6 km long and popular year-round.
